The Market for AJ Burnett Expands
According to the Lohud Blog the Indians and Angels are now in the mix for AJ Burnett, with the Indians willing to deal Travis Hafner to fill our hole at DH, and the Angels potentially willing to deal one of their excess outfielders for the same role. This puts us at the RJG in a strange position. All year we've been sarcastically joking that there was a market for Burnett. Now there actually is a market for Burnett. Its no longer a joke, which makes us a credible source for actual news, which completely counters our entire business model. As we begin to reorganize all our assets at the RJG, we would like to mention that the Angels are apparently on Burnett's partial No Trade list, which makes them an unlikely landing spot. The one thing I will say is that its at least looking promising. Kind of like the previews for the Avengers, and much like the Avengers, this better not disappoint.

I think Hafner has been shot down, and Abreu is blocked by AJ's no trade clause to a West Coast team. There may be other possibilities!
A lot of people think the Pirates is the most likely landing spot. Freeing up that $13 million or so dollars would allow us to sign one of the remaining Dh's, including Vladimir Guerrero who said he wanted to play for the Yankees, but we'd be getting back two non-roster invites from the Pirates. If you're a non-roster invite for the Pittsburgh Pirates I can't imagine how good you are. Just look at the players they're actually fielding.
Guerrero playing for the Yankees? He is a HOF candidate. He played so well against us that he should not get there in a Yankees uniform. However, he is a nice, good player and deserves to get what he wants, even if it is playing for us for a year. He can still instill fear into a pitcher's mind.
There is a vacancy in the AAA rotation left by former mainstay Kei Igawa. If the Pirates don't want Burnett, perhaps we can use him to stabilize the Scranton Wilkes-Barre rotation.
Bashing the K-man? C'mon, he's the all-time winningest pitcher in Scranton! He's a record setter! What organization wouldn't want that kind of pitcher?
I'm not bashing Igawa, I'm saying that Burnett is one of the few pitchers in the world who would be capable of replacing him.
We got a guy named Exicardo Coyones in the Burnett deal. I don't care how good he is or how many millions we will pay Burnett to pitch for another team - I declare this deal a win for the Yankees. Bronny you've done it again.
