The Good
Homeruns from A-Rod and Overbay made the Yankees feel young again.
The Bad
The Yankees took a loss after the Orioles exposed a deep-seeded flaw in the Yankees: we're not very good.
The Ugly
The truth is, this team can be better, and has played better in different stretches of this season. Early August seemed to suggest that this very team can win games. However, as we're fighting for a wild card spot, we look out matched, and frankly we lack fire, and confidence. We just look like a team that's defeated. We have to turn this around.
A Case for Charity
A-Rod and Overbay each hit homeruns to deliver $4 to the Children's Health Fund.

If we lose a wild card spot by a game or two, passing on Martin will be the difference between playoffs and no playoffs.
After the aberration that was the Red Sox series, this game returned to the usual 2013 Yankees model of not scoring runs. Consistency is comforting.
Ibanez is another player that could have changed the tide of this season. I'm really curious to see what they do for next season, because at the end of the day, you have to look at this year as an experiment that went terribly wrong. But instead of unleashing an army of zombies on the world, they unleashed a lineup of 4th outfielders and injury prone stars that have placed the team in their current predicament.
Youkilis might be a zombie. Who can say? Has anyone seen him? I have suspicions about Reid Brignac too.
