The Rain Screwed Us. Or Did It?

The rain washed out Sabathia's first playoff appearance, already off to a promising start (#sarcasm). It also washed out any chance that we'll see Verlander more than once this series, which is good. That's all I have to say about that.

I'm just glad Sabathia made it through two innings without drowning.

Which is worse for a baseball fan?

A. Your team becomes the first ever to blow a 9-game Wild Card lead in September.

B. Your team adopts this as its logo.

(This is supposedly the new logo for the Miami Marlins.)

Discuss.

Ho. Ly. $#!%. That logo is much worse. It looks like a rainbow got food poisoning, a bout of diarrhea, and that was the result. Wow. But maybe I've over reacted. Remember the old Houston Astros' jerseys. Awful. But now, if you see someone wearing one, it's nostalgic. This could be too in a few years, whereas the September collapse will never have a positive spin.

My wife and I independently came to the conclusion that the new Marlins' logo looks like something that would appear on a Wario game. I don't know what that says about us.

Anyway, how about that Cano grand slam, and seeing Ayala in a game that Verlander started? So far so good.

The ugly for game one definitely should be Ayala. Not being able to close out an 8 run lead? Wow. People keep getting suckered by this guy's low regular season ERA. Despite the fact that he pitched mainly in low leverage situations. Despite the fact that he gave up runs...just not his own. Sure he has a 0.00 ERA for the post season. But can anybody who actually saw him pitch say he was any good?
Don't let the stats fool you, Joe. Steer clear of this guy in the future.

And, yes, that Marlins logo is absolutely the worst. Yuck.

But does anybody really care about the Marlins? They could have a naked transvestite as their logo and I don't think anybody would notice.
