Bring That to the Negotiation Table

It looks like Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, and first timer Robinson Cano have all won gold gloves. For Cano, its his first and shows just how much he's grown in his defense. For Jeter, it gives some extra ammo to his side of the contract negotiation. For us fans, let us just be grateful for the three gold glove winners in our midst.

This is definitely a big plus for Jeter, defensive metrics be damned! One can say a lot about Jeter's range, but I suspect the reason Jeter got this award is because he rarely makes errors. He may not get to every ball, but he doesn't botch plays, and there is something to be said for that. I know, I know. Run prevention. But how well did that work out for Boston this year?

"Defensive metrics." I saw another blog that cited "Advanced fielding metrics." Well, this is America: We don't use the metric system!

He's still the best, and I don't give a damn what Wallace Matthews and every other Yankee Hater says. Hank, Hal, Brian... Pay the man!
