Yanks Edge Out Rays

The Good

Despite a lackluster effort from Burnett, the Yankees still edged out a win, and much of that is due to the efforts of the bullpen. Hector Noesi danced out of a bases loaded jam in the 6th left by Burnett, and him combined with Robertson and Mariano did not allow a single run for the rest of the game. At that point the Yankee offense could wait for one of their 9 walks to score a run.

The Bad

Burnett's first couple innings come to mind. He settled down after that, but with 4 runs on the board you're off to an early deficit. We really need Burnett to be sharp for a playoff run.

The Ugly

The Yankees won the game off of a 20-year-old call up Alexander Torres. With the bases loaded, the Yanks drew a walk, splitting the game wide-open, or so it seems when you have to face Mariano Rivera in the 9th.

Homerless Spell Continues

And the children suffer. No homeruns means no money for the babies at the Children's Health Fund.

Mark Teixeira 25hr = $50
Curtis Granderson 25hr = $50
Russell Martin 10hr = $20
Alex Rodriguez 13hr = $26
Jorge Posada 9hr = $18
Robinson Cano 15hr = $30
Andruw Jones 5hr = $10
Brett Gardner 4hr = $8
Nick Swisher 10hr = $20
Derek Jeter 3hr = $6
Francisco Cervelli 1hr = $2
Eduardo Nunez 3hr = $6
Ramiro Pena 1hr = $2
Total = $248

Do you watch NCIS? "Rules in the 40s are to be used in emergency situations only." Remember Farnsworth's number with the Yankees? Rule Number 48: Never, ever bring Kyle Farnsworth in to protect a lead! Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't give up a home run. I guess he doesn't care about children as much as you do.

I'm beginning to lose faith in AJ. Granted, he has pitched well, but he is still inconsistent. Four runs? Not many teams can have a 4 runs deficit and come back and win. We don't either, but Rays relievers were willing to help us win.

Mo's 7 pitches inning is truly great!:)

I lost faith in AJ well before this season. Like any pitcher prone to walking or hitting batters or throwing wild pitches, the wheels can come off at any time.

Farnsworth was a peculiar setup guy in that he could never hand a lead over. As a result, Scott Proctor was overused.

I thought AJ had turned a corner this year, but youre right in that with anyone whose control kind of comes and goes, you can never feel confidant in your lead.
