What Do We Make of This?

The Good

A-Rod hit his 30th homerun of the season, making it his 87th straight 30-homerun season.

The Bad

The Yankees are sure picking a terrible time to lose steam. The post season starts next week, and we've lost 6 of our last 8 games. Unless they pick it up through the weekend, there's going to be no momentum. I'm hoping they pick it up come crunch time, but there are some concerns.

The Ugly

Okay, so Javy Vazquez was not Bronny Cash's greatest idea. Another dissapointing start where he allowed 7 runs in 4.2 innings. This fully assures he'll be pitching out of the bullpen come post season. Burnett should probably join him.

But do the Babies have to Suffer?

The answer is no. A-Rod hit a homerun yesterday, not just to reach a personal milestone, but to make sure the RJG blog gave $2 to the Children's Health Fund as part of their homerun club obligations. We're happy to do it.

Posada 18hr = $36
Granderson 24hr = $48
Cano 28hr = $56
Swisher 28hr = $56
Jeter 10hr = $20
Johnson 2hr = $4
Rodriguez 30hr = $60
Teixeira 33hr = $66
Thames 12hr = $24
Gardner 5hr = $10
Winn 1hr = $2
Miranda 3hr = $6
Curtis 1hr = $2
Kearns 2hr = $4
Nunez 1hr = $2
Berkman 1hr = $2
Total = $398

"What do we make of this?" This? Oh, we can make a hat...

Looks like Joe Girardi picked the wrong week to quit using good starting pitchers!

And if either Burnett or Vazquez pitches in the Playoffs, something's gonna hit the fan! (Probably the fans sitting in the Bleachers: A few home runs.)

Vazquez could still be useful handing out towels and cups of gatorade to his teammates in the bullpen.

Oh, yeah. Big orange and blue stains on all the relief pitcher's uniforms and "Looks like Javy's still having trouble locating."
Interesting times....

Haha, I think this is going to be one interesting post season.

Do you think Vazquez will even be in the bullpen? Seems like he is dead weight at this point.

I hope that this post season is long enough to be interesting.

It's a good question. The way he's pitched, and after what happened in '04, there's a strong case for leaving him off the post season roster.

Yeah! The whole sputtering at the end of the season reminds me of early 2000's seasons! Scary, those were dark times! LOL I sure hope they can get some fire under their tales from this sox series over the weekend! Hope fully the sox will remind them of how not to play in the playoffs.

Do not fear, September doesn't mean anything as long as you make the playoffs. The 2000 team was 13-17 in September and lost 15 of its last 18 games. Still won the World Series.

Vazquez won't be on the playoff roster. He's useless and I think Girardi knows it. Now we have to see if he understands that Burnett is just as bad.

BTW--this all led me to figuring out how Burnett got his black eye.
