The Good
Bartolo Colon, Joba, Mo. Also known as BarJoMo. The 'lock down clean-up crew in games that have gotten away from the starter' for the Yankees. This is how they drew it up in the offseason folks. Game tying home run in the ninth by Posada was good. Pie in the tenth even better. Oh! And that catch by Swisher at the wall.
The Bad
I'm going to go out on a limb here, I think Phil Hughes may be hurt. If you've ever watched Hughes pitch you may have noticed that he has this odd pause in his delivery. He brings the ball up to about a 3/4 position, pauses and then launches into the pitch. That's always struck me as something that was going to lead to shoulder trouble. So I'm going to go ahead and guess that there may be more to this loss of velocity than just arm strength.
The Ugly
What was Martin thinking on that snap throw to first? It's like he said to himself, "I wonder how far I can throw a baseball" and then just went for it.
All Donations Are Tax Deductible
Jorge Posada, or as he is now known, 'the new Adam Dunn of the Yankees', hit another home run last night. The children thank you good sir.
Mark Teixeira 4hr = $8
Curtis Granderson 2hr = $4
Russell Martin 3hr = $6
Alex Rodriguez 4hr = $8
Jorge Posada 5hr = $10
Robinson Cano 2hr = $4
Andruw Jones 1hr = $2
Total = $42

How ironic that Joba's tag of Felix PIE in the 8th would lead to Swisher getting a dose of PIE in the 10th. I guess you could say that PIE was the theme of this game!

Also, Cashman's public persona is becoming more like his RJG persona every week.

and you thought we were making those phone calls up!
That is the official position of the Yankees, at least.
I hope Hughes is hurt and it's something that has a short recovery period. I realize the season just started (except for the Red Sox, which should go into rebuilding mode now), but this rotation can't survive in the playoffs if Hughes is terrible.
Yeah what's sad is that if this continues, you eventually have to consider Colon pitching in that spot.
