Yankees Narrowly Escape A Loss

The Good

Pavano pitched 5 innings of 2 run ball recovering from his recent hip injuries much quicker than everyone anticipated. A train of Coke-Bruney-Marte-Chamberlain-Rivera pitched the remaining 4 innings and shut the Orioles down. Giambi and Damon both had a pair of hits, while Cano and Gardner both drove in runs.

The Bad

Giambi made another throwing error. For shame Giambi. For shame!

The Ugly

The Yankees narrowly toppled the ultra-tough perennial contending Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles are tough, but the Yankees are Pavano Tough!

Respect Jeter's Gangster is for the Children

The "Respect Jeter's Gangster" blog joined Johnny Damon's home run club, which raises money for the Children's Health Fund. We are pledged to donate $1.00 for every homerun the Yankees hit this season. We will keep a running tally of the home runs hit and the money donated throughout the season. Cano hit a homerun to further a recent streak of hitting competency that previously alluded him.

Melky Cabrera 8hr = $8.00
Alex Rodriguez 35hr = $35.00
Hideki Matsui 9 hr = $9.00
Bobby Abreu 19hr = $19.00
Jorge Posada 3hr = $3.00
Jason Giambi 31hr = $31.00
Johnny Damon 15hr = $15.00
Morgan Ensberg 1hr = $1.00
Robinson Cano 14hr = $14.00
Chad Moeller 1hr = $1.00
Wilson Betemit 6hr = $6.00
Derek Jeter 11hr = $11.00
Shelley Duncan 1hr = $1.00
Xavier Nady 11hr = $11.00
Jose Molina 2 hr = $2.00
Ivan Rodriguez 2hr = $2.00
Richie Sexson 1hr = $1.00
Cody Ransom 2hr= $2.00
Total = $170.00

"Giambi made another throwing error"?
What's the point making a big fuss over one universally acknowledged fact of life, my friend?
When I saw Brett Gardner's flying bat missed dear old Carl for the third time in a roll, I knew something really special would happen to our team.
And they won, AGAIN.
Carl Pavano is our Saviour.

You bet Hank and his talented bio and genetic squad will work extremely hard on mixing up dinosaurs' and Yankees players' genes to ensure "Yankees 162-0 next season" in the coming off season.

If Jurrasic Park taught me anything, its that you can't beat dinosaurs. At least not on a baseball field.

I don't know why throwing a ball is so difficult for Giambi. I feel like a big leaguer should be able to accomplish said task.

Maybe that's because the Big G, whose true identity is the Superman, is a little bit too careful when throwing the ball to his teammate with that universally famous tremendous power of his. You see, he really doesn't want to knock off anybody's head.

The 2009 Yankees will be invincible after Brett Gardner learns how to send his flying bat into opposing team's dugout over and over again.
Nobody can beat the Yankees when every single player are Pavanoed.

honestly. im 19 years old. iv been to yankee stadium over 30 times in my life. tomorrow or tonight. depending how you look at it will be a sad night in my life. this stadium has so many memories in it, from my first baseball game to scoring tickets to the home run derby this year. im going to miss this place. but hopefully in 50 years i can look at the new stadium and witness the next generation of yankees win a couple of world series. goodbye yankee stadium. and for one last night. goodnight.

I feel ya Quinn... I lived in New Jersey during all of my '20s, which happened to coincide with the great teams of the 90s and early 2000s and went to Yankee stadium more times than I can count. Every trip back to New York since then has included tickets to a Yankee game, and it will be weird and sad today watching all the coverage. I am looking forward to going to the new ballpark, but I will miss the ambiance that so many of these new ballparks lack (but make up for in comfort.)

A lot of good times were had at the stadium. The new stadium will eventually get broken in, and made to feel more like home, but this stadium has its magic. I just hope in the final game the Yankees give it the send off it deserves.
