CC continues to dominate, throwing 7 innings of one run ball. The offense, despite the injuries, is still scoring runs.
The Bad
Remember way back when, when our bullpen was a strength? April feels like so long ago. For the second time in three games, Joba and Mo teamed up to bury the Yankees. WTF?
The Ugly
Phil Hughes once spoke of Mariano Rivera as a video game. "It's kind of weird," Hughes said, "but we play with a video game." (or something to that effect, I can't be bothered to look up the quote). After the second blow up in three games for the beleaguered closer, the Yankees realized what was wrong.
"It's very simple," explained Yankees Chief of Engineering Nerdie Dorkovsky. "Mo is a video game, and some genius went ahead and set him to 'easy.' Normally he's set at 'advanced,' but something must have happened the last time we ran a software upgrade. Everything should be back to normal now."

The late innings were a cluster-f of epic proportions. Everything had to go wrong for the Yankees to lose by one run. The previous night's walkoff win suggests that God does not hate the Yankees, so I would not panic yet.
Also, I think you or Fernando correctly pointed out that there is an annual freakout about whether Rivera is done. Rivera is just getting that freakout over with. Nerdie Dorkovsky will fix everything.
I suppose we just traded closer meltdowns over the course of the two games. At the end of the day, you can't make errors in the field, especially late in the game, and expect to win. But four runs from Chamberlain? That's too many.
You're right, we can't freak out yet, but I'm going to anyway.
You really think Mariano had a meltdown, exactly? Not Joba, who couldn't get three outs without giving up four runs? Or - sorry, Marcus - the Marcus Thames Fielding Experience?
Anyway, that was Mo's hiccup in a tie game so we can all freak out about it.
Both teams played this series pretty terribly. Only one of the four starting pitchers was any good, really. The fielding by both teams was bad, though at least the Yankees did not declare RUN PREVENTION was our mantra in the offseason. The games were really long and my nails got ripped off multiple times.
Just beat the Rays 1508-2. That'd be ideal.
We tempted fate on back-to-back nights against The Scum. What other team could have gotten away with it once? We did. Even The Lordly Yankees (Remember when we were called that?) can't get away with it twice. As Reggie Jackson (thanks for ruining his birthday yesterday, Joba) used to say in his Oakland days, you've got to "step on their necks."
Let's do what we did with that disaster against Minnesota: Chalk it up as an ordinary loss and move on. Time be beat the Tampa Bay Deviled Eggs. If we can take 2 of 3 against them in their little dumpy dome, we can sweep 2 from them at YSII.
You're right Lady, Joba and Thames were much greater determinants in what occurred yesterday.
Here's hoping we sweep the Rays, Uncle Mike. It should be a good couple of games.
Actually, I know why we lost: Posada and his terrible game-calling was behind the plate! Oh, wait.
Actually, old habits die hard, so Posada spent most of the game calling it from the dugout, only instead of secret signals to the catcher, he would just yell out the next pitch. If Cervelli called something else, he'd yell, "You're going with the X huh? I guess that's good too." I think that's why the Sox were able to score so much late in the game.
