Chien-Ming Wang Injury Update

Chien-Ming Wang will be out for around 10 weeks with a sprain of the mid foot. During that time he'll be in a protective boot and his activities will be limited. "We told him he would have to lay off kicking people for a while," said doctors at the top secret military medical facility where Wang was examined and fitted for a boot. "They said I can no longer engage in my favorite hobby of attacking merchant vessels in the Caribbean," lamented Wang through his interpreter, Robinson Cano. "I'm also not allowed to bake." Asked what he plans to do for the next six weeks until he can start throwing again, Wang responded, "I'll probably go to my favorite blog Respect Jeter's Gangster."

The Yanks will now have to decide whether to trade for an arm (Arroyo and Sabathia have come up as possibilities) or whether to try and make up for Wang's lost production from within. Asked for comment, Hank Steinbrenner said he wanted Johan Santana and that he believed a deal should be made with the Mets. Cashman, when asked to respond, simply took another swig from that "water" bottle he's taken to carrying around with him since Hank became the boss.

Should we trade for Sabathia? Arroyo? Should we try to address the deficit internally? What do you guys think?

Why would we want the stoner cornrowed freak? Lets start the rumour that Brian Cashman has been talking with Boomer Wells again. Ya know, Knobby and Bubba Crosby were at the Houston game the other day, why don't we say that Tom Gordon and John Wetteland have gotten out of a time machine from the end of the '90's and are going to give Farnsworthless some, uh, wall-to-wall counseling and take his place? Yeah.

Hey, I heard that Little Stein saw Barry Zito in the airport, and that he may be willing to take Wanger's place.

Lets start the most jacked up rumour that we can and spread it across the blogosphere!

The best rumors are ones that are within the realm of possibility and make people believe that their wildest dream has come true. Then they go wild spreading the rumor, because they don't want to accept that its not true.

To that end, I say we make up a prospect coming through the minors who throws 100mph with an unhittable curve. We come up with some obscure prospect's name and make up his scouting report. People will buy it from there.

I prefer Harden, Bedard and Burnett.
If they ask for CC at this time, the price will be way too high. And I'm a bit worried about his size. I can't bear the sight of our ace collapsing on the mound due to some unknown heart problems.

Don't forget Roy Oswalt. He can hit with his eyes closed.

Hey guys - long time no talk, but I've had my hands full fussing about my own team!!!! At least Grady's hitting now. So let's talk a fantasy trade here.... What do you think the Tribe would get for CC if the Yanks were to make a serious offer?

the yanks should gamble with freddy garcia.. the only thing your loosing is money (a league min. salary). and why not give the guy a shot.. apearently him and arod are boys

For Sabathia? They'll start with Cano, and probably ask for Hughes, Rasner and some minor league prospects. The price will be high if only because Cano and Hughes stock has fallen due to their rocky performances. I don't think they'll even want Kennedy.

I hate to see Rasner go so soon, but you're right, the Tribe will want at least one decent arm.

Ya think they'd ask for or we'd throw in the Attorney General, if nothing else, to use him as trade bait down the line? I'm still not sure where he fits in with the Yankees, with SS and 3B locked up for the forseeable future.

There's no way Rasner and Gonzalez are going to land you Sabathia. It would cost way too much. Basically in the realm of the Santana trade. We didn't make that, and we can't make this.

I don't want Bedard unless they get him for Kei Igawa straight up. Mariners are desperate to trade Bedard? Let's see just how desperate they are.

I would take Blanton, but Oakland (and pretty much every team in baseball) always asks for way too much from the Yanks, just to hike the price up.

Right now it's Dan Giese. I would expect to see Dan McCutchen before too long.

Dan Giese and Kei Igawa are probably the ready options. They may want to try Igawa just to give him every chance to not be a $46 million waste. Freddy Garcia is a good option just because it won't cost us any personnel, but I don't know how good he'll be. As BigJF stated, Sabathia will cost way too much. Premium pitching won't come cheap, but I'm not convinced we need to replace Wang with another ace. We just need a serviceable replacement.

i agree with fernando. personally cc's weight really scares me. i dont want another zito. i say lets see what the in house guys can do. and if they cant. lets try and talk to grienke. the only thing with grienke is that he had anxiety issues.. and i dont know how he would hold up in ny with the media. i also dont want a national league guy. they just scare me a little because the al is better hitting wise.. another name to throw out there derek lowe?

Fernando Alejandro said...

That's funny I was actually thinking about Grienke earlier and thought the same thing about his anxiety problems. He is a good pitcher though, and I think his anxiety meds are keeping things under control. That would be an amazing pick up, and may not cost us the farm.

Now we know Randy Wolf is not interested in pinstripes.

It's just a hunch but I think the Dodgers might trade Matt Kemp for CC "everybody wants a piece of him" Sabathia.
Cleveland needs a hitter.
LA nees an ace.
And it's simply stupid to send a Cy Young winner to your AL opponent.

The answer is simple boys, one word.......Carl "I'm as rested as I'll ever be" Pavano

Oh Steve, if only we could get our $40 million pitcher to pitch for us. If only.
