Yankees Drop Series To Blue Jays

The Good

My lack of desire to blog about the Yankees has coincided with them playing frustratingly bad baseball. At least this way I don't have to pay daily attention to the crapfest they call 'playing'. We did manage some contributions for the kids: four home runs in the first game. Which we lost. Great.

The Bad

After pitching the greatest game in the history of baseball, CC Sabathia returned to pitch much like he has all season: below expectations. Sure, three unearned runs doesn't help, but pitchers are supposed to pick up their teammates when errors are committed. Ace pitchers especially. I don't want to hear it.

The Ugly

We lost Teixeira in this series, and the team is already reeling from various injuries. This can't continue. In fairness, the Rivera, Pettitte, and A-Rod injuries were freak things, but Tex is only good for about 5 months of baseball at this point and our entire roster is on the wrong side of 30. The answer? Trade for Joe Mauer. It's the only way.

More Money Than You Can Shake a Stick At

Believe me, we tried. The Yankees hit four home runs in this series. Two by Cano, one from Jeter, and one from Swisher. $8 more for the kids.

Raul Ibanez 15hr = $30
Nick Swisher 20hr = $40
Andruw Jones 13hr = $26
Derek Jeter 14hr = $28
Curtis Granderson 33hr = $66
Alex Rodriguez 15hr = $30
Robinson Cano 27hr = $54
Mark Teixeira 23hr = $46
Eric Chavez 13hr = $26
Russell Martin 14hr = $28
Jayson Nix 4hr = $8
Dewayne Wise 3hr = $6
Chris Stewart 1hr = $2
Ichiro Suzuki 3hr = $6
Casey McGehee 1hr = $2

Total 199 hr = $398

This series left me so uninspired. Losing two out of three to a bunch of Canadians, and just squeaking out that win? Clearly the Yankees do not feel proud of their country.

I turned to the RNC for a boost. I am now convinced that what the team needs is a large individual income tax cut. With hard working Americans like Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez able to keep more of their paychecks for themselves, the Yankees will be so fired up that they will never lose another game.

It's just unfortunate that job creators like Teixeira and A-Rod (where would Yuri Sucart be without A-Rod?) get hammered by a bunch of tax and spend liberal democrats. Never mind if that's how taxes work. Liberal. Democrats.

I saw in an Entourage episode that Teixeira struggles to find the funds to send his kids to private school in Connecticut. Considering how much sleep I lost over Teixeira's dilemma, I can't even imagine how he must feel. In fact he isn't even playing anymore.

My inspiration from the RNC is wearing off, because even if the Republicans get their way, Teixeira will still be taxed and will still have to scrounge to get money for his kids' education. The only solution is for the Yankees to become an independent sovereign nation with no taxes, including the luxury tax.

They've thought about doing just that, but concluded it's no fun if you don't have any poorer teams to kick around and complain about.

They could have the Yankee Stadium hot dog vendors and janitors play as the other teams, but not increase their pay. As a independent country, the Yankees would be immune from regulation, red tape, and all forms of bureaucratic meddling that could stop them from creating and paying other teams as they saw fit.

And then the team could put up a giant plaque in honor of George Steinbrenner, the ultimate Job Creator of Yankees Universe, that would be far bigger than any plaque for any player, even Ruth and Gehrig, since the person who owns the company is vastly more important than anyone who works there.

Ok, they already did that. But they could do the other stuff too.

The Yankees have to keep the average roster age at about 57 so that I can keep telling myself I'm still young.

That is one nice benefit of rooting for these Yankees. It's been a while since all athletes were older than me, so it's nice to know there's still a team where that is true. Watching KC on the other hand, depressing.

sometimes I do not really know what kind of game or strategy the Yankees have because I see nothing good in the Yankees games, I am really fed up with the Yankees players's performance
