Ignore The Conventional Wisdom

After the Sabbathia signing, conventional wisdom held that any Yankee fans holding out hope for a Teixeira signing were foolish, unreasonable blow hards who didn't realize that the Yankees were now in danger of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. There was no way the Yanks would sign CC, AJ and Teixeira. Impossible. The Yanks were out of money, and Teixeira loved Boston anyway and would play there because that's what Boston lovers do. Well, it turns out the conventional wisdom was dead wrong. Now the conventional wisdom says that there is no way the Yanks will sign Manny. No way. Too much money and the Yankees are maxed out as it is. They've single handedly driven the nations savings rate to below zero. Besides, Bronny Cash has said, when asked, that he is not going after Manny. He pretty much said the same thing about the idea of signing two big name pitchers and a big time slugging first baseman. So for those hoping to see Manny in pinstripes, do not fret, it still may happen yet. That's a rhyme, boyeeeee (big clock pendant hanging from my neck).

I think they need to sign Pettitte before thinking about another bat. And they've already got 6,000 aging DH-es. No Manny. Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas. I suspect Matsui and Nady will be traded since they are both in walk years. Then we can use Manny exclusively as a DH.

i think we need to interview bronny again

def agree with roberto. nady and matsui can be traded. therfore, some other team can find a better use for them. manny filling out the line up would result in a surplus of guys who have legitimate talent but in the ranks with a rod and the doublemint twins (CC and AJ) their just in the dugout looking in (or out, however it works). tradeing them out would also keep other teams happy cause they will get their hands on some star power players. What the yankees taketh they may also giveth away. with a few years guys like justine christian (and the other spare parts) can be staring down the path of hall of fame (with loads of time and the right development), but the yanks arnt intrested in the journey no more. seeing how it blew up in their face, they want proven sucsess stories, and if that means throwing away diamonds in the rough, so be it.. one mans trash is another mans treasure..so on and so forth (now this is just a desprate attempt to persuade my reasonabel judgement into think manny is pinstripped gold)

Matsui went under two surgeries in 11 months. Until he proves that he's totally recovered, no other team will trade for him.
As to Nady, please keep in mind that he's the only RF we got and there are not many good RFs around.
Now, let's get back to our topic
"Ignore The Conventional Wisdom".
Here's what I think we should do next season:
Whenever the Yankees have a runner on third with two outs in a tie game, they should let CC pinch run and have him charging the home plate.
No catcher with basic common sense will even think of blocking the plate.
So CC scores the winning run and the Yankees win!

BTW, it might be a little too early but Happy New Year everyone!

If the Yanks trade Matsui, it will have to be for prospects and they should expect to send cash along with him. It would be a pure roster move, just making space. Swisher can be placed in RF, he can't be worse than Abreu defensively, even if he doesn't have Abreu's arm. Nady's in a walk year, let's see what we get for him. That would leave a DH spot open for Manny, while Damon would have to be the everyday LF with the two switching every now and again to give Damon some rest.

sounds like a plan to me.No one knows what goes on in the minor league as far as development, but if they put some more concentration into that, a trade for matsui for prospects would pay off within a few years nd would open the door for manny../sidenote:does anybody knw how the yanks are doing catcher-wise, wether its in the minors or wherever. what happens if posada goes down.even though molina got the last homer in the stadium I am not convince that he's a suitabel everyday catcher. now they could hold on to pudge but he'd be better on a team that needs him everyday. so whatdo they do? hold on to him and let him collect dust, send him to the minors (highly unlikely) or perhaps add in a potential matsui or nady trade to spice up the pot). opening day will be a sight to see!

Early happy new years to you Raven!

Matsui could probably get us a utility guy like Chone Figgins, and Nady could net us some prospects. As far as catchers go, if Posada isn't healthy Molina will fill in with newly signed Kevin Cash backing him up. Its not the best offensive combination, but should do fine in a pinch. As for the future of catching, we have Jesus Montero who looked better slated to play first base, but should now work hard behind the plate. The only chance he has on the big league team is as a catcher.

Just tell me who's gonna be our RF once Nady got traded?

Fernando Alejandro said...

Raven, it would go to Swisher. He's a first baseman/corner outfielder. Well, was a first baseman since with the Yankees he won't be anymore.

Nady is a better RF than Swisher...
