Awhile back I wrote it's a bad idea to give a big contract to a reliever unless it's Rivera or Soria. I need to revise that list. Soria has been horrible this year.
Pursuing Soria is a difficult call. His contract has team options over the next three years with affordable buyouts, so the Royals have an incentive to wait and see if he will improve. He's one of the most recognizable Royals and trading him for spare parts won't sit well with their fan(s).
And then there's the fact that he's been terrible this year. If he's going through a funk, do we want to find out if he can snap out of it in the Bronx? If he's hurt, do we want to pay for his recovery?
Should it concern me that his name is like Soriano, but a little shorter?

For whom? Hunter? Soria? The adorable triplets who caught Hunter's HR?
I was thinking Soria, but it would be hard to pass up on adorable triplets.

Your last question, Rick, is the one that really scares me.
