Interesting
According to Peter Gammons, the reason the Cameron-Cabrera trade talks ended was that Melky has shown increasing plate discipline in the winter leagues. Maybe the Yankees haven't given up on Cabrera after all, and if it is true that his discipline has improved I think he continue to be our best option in center.

I like Melky, too.
He has the ability to hit game-winning homers off brilliant pitchers such as Halladay and CC.
Oh Lord, how I wish this is true!!!
Oh it's true! It's true because I say it's true! And I refuse to believe the whole ARod/Madonna thing - it grosses me out.... So yeah, it's true!!!
And I like Melky. He has better defense than Damon. I've been critical of Damon in the field all year, so if Melky can get his bat together, that would be fabulous!
It would be great if Melky has a real turnaround at the plate. Maybe he just needed to mature. Or maybe he needed the reality check that he was being shipped off to Milwaukee.
The way Melky started last season, I thought he was going to have a break out year. He hit .299 with 5 homeruns in April. His career high for homeruns in a season was 8, which he hit in 2007. He then completely fell apart after April.
Poor A-Rod, he now has a Brazilian model to contend with. Well, I suppose he's getting a dose of his own medicine.
Nah...the gossip mags had ARod hooking up with his own model back in October or November. YES!!! A normal hookup for ARod!!! Not some freakshow....he's just friends with Madonna. They share a passion for charity.
I love leche man. I'm glad to hear even a tiny shred of rumor that the yankees may not have given up on him.
I'm thinking/hoping his demotion to triple A and a bench player will motivate him to get his sh*t together. Same way I think robbie's terrible year has really motivated him.
Robbie and leche are gonna have great years.
I'd be interested to see what the competition between Melky and Gardner brings to the Yankees. Melky started off well last season, and then fell apart. Hopefully, he's learned from this last season, and is ready to come strong. I like Gardner as a 4th outfielder, but if his bat comes around then yeah, give him some regular playing time. Either way, Cameron and his $10 million salary can stay where they are.
