It was reported last week that the New York Times is looking to sell their 17.5% ownership stake of the Boston Red Sox. The Times, like many other newspaper companies has been hit hard by the economic downturn and is now looking to sell the stake they had purchased in 2002 for $75 million. With this news, the Respect Jeter's Gangster blog is announcing their intent to purchase the 17.5% stake in the Red Sox. We have officially put forward a $75 million offer to the times, and are willing to negotiate. Respect Jeter's Gangster, like the Yankees, has been unaffected by the recession. Reasons for this have to do with the insatiable demand for all things Jeter's gangster. Revenue from our beloved sponsors shown on the right hand side of the blog, our t-shirt sales, and of course the clicks on the Google ads also shown on the right hand side of the blog, have built up to about a $90 million profit. Because of our relatively low production costs (blogger.com is free), we basically generate all profit. I'm not really sure why I still work a day job. In the event that the New York Times accepts our offer to purchase their stake in the Red Sox, what do you think we should do with it? Here are some ideas I have:
-Change the name to the Boston Communist Party.
-Make Fenway a dry park.
-Punch John Henry in the kidney.
-Sell the secret recipe of the Fenway Frank to Oscar Meyer.
-Install a giant photo of Manny on the green monster.
-Prank call Curt Schilling with fake contract offers.
-Sign Carl Pavano.
-Split my ownership stake between Bucky Dent and Aaron Boone.
-Hold a Bill Buckner appreciation day.
-Change the mascot from Wally the Green Monster to Marx the Red Soviet.

Excellent post! I agree with all your suggestions, my favorite being "Make Fenway a dry park." LOL.
Out of all the ideas there, I think thats the one that'll start the riot.
I think you can do most of the above. I just wouldn't split my shares, then you have less power to cause havoc!
SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN TO ME...I loved the idea of selling the recipt of fenway franks to oscar mayer, but i would make it so when I see them in the store they say the yanksfranks, and all proceeds go to the yankees....that way we can land more of their players.
The Yankees can already land any player they want. What I might do, is use the money to buy more ownership stake in the company until I can get up to 51% where I will have real control.
lol, although cashman would like us to believe otherwise =(.... i cant wait till spring training! wouldnt it be awful if all the newbies dont get along??...i'd love to see a new political cartoon, the bronx zoo 2
I click on those google links from time to time just to increase our profit margins. I'm a capitalist like that.
By Google Adsense law, I'm not allowed to click on them for that reason.
how exactly does that work? they pay you for putting their ad thingy on your page, and everytime someone from your site goes on it, they send you more moneys??
That's what I assume, I have no agreement with google adsense so I'm clicking away.
Bill Buckner appreciation day...Didn't they already do something like that for real? I know they had him back and he got cheered.
I think you're right Bigjf, but in this appreciation day we would reenact the event, even calling up former Mets players to get involved.
LOL, so this appreciation day would be more like a "rekindle old feelings and get Buckner kicked out of Boston for another 20 years" day.
You got it Bigjf. It definitely would be fun to watch.... As a New York fan. I guess perspective would dictate whether or not you would enjoy the RJG version of Bill Buckner appreciation day.
