Screw the Rumors, Teix a Yankee?

Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Yankees have signed Teixeira! The deal is said to be in the 8 year $180 million range. It would certainly explain the Nationals upping their offer seemingly out of no where.

This is so freakin' awesome. I wonder what the odds are for the Yanks to win the WS. This will be a fun year!!!!

I agree. If we suck this year, I'm pretty much going to have to assume that we're cursed.

Crap....there goes my 1995 dream of ARod, Jeter, and Manny all on the same team. Oh well, in that case - YAY, at least we have another great bat!!!

CURSES!!!!! FOILED AGAIN!!!! Well, looks like the evil empire is back. (Shaking fist like angry old man kicking kids off his lawn)

You can never count your chickens before the eggs hatch. I will remind us all of the power house season we were supposed to have in 2005 when we compiled a rotation of Mike Mussina, Randy Johnson, Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright and Kevin Brown. Our lineup with Giambi, Sheffield, Matsui, A-Rod and all the rest were going to slug their way to 1000 runs. The Yankees were the easy favorites, and would plow their way straight to another world series championship. However, the reality of the situation is that Pavano, Wright and Brown ended up on the DL all season, while Mussina dealt with elbow pain, and though the lineup did slug its way to many wins, the Yankees just barely won the division and then got knocked out of the first round of the playoffs. So, on paper we look great, but I'll wait to see where the team stands in October before I pass judgement.

Well, of course. That's why they actually have to play the games before anything is decided.
The upside, is these big names and big money guys aren't getting paid for what they did ten years ago, when they had legs and elbows.
This is looking pretty damn good.

the media in boston are going nuts, blaming the yankees for spending. its not the yankees fault that henry didn't do what it took to get their man. our owners are commited to winning, and although hank is a coward who will not speak to you, he wants to win.gr

what bout tickets right at feild level for 50 bucks...although its only for thoese two exibition games. But for thoese of us who arnt intrested in shelling out the cost of a minor league prospect for season tickets, its a nice idea. how much you wanna bet they're sold out by the time i even type ticketmaster. dare to dream./ i sure hope the yanks dont make fools of themselves. it would suck to be blamed for makeing the economy unstable and not even have a world series ring to flip people off with...

Fred Trigger said...

you know, the more I think about it, I think the selling point was the yankees throwing in a full no trade clause. Because, if you follow the red sox, they have a policy of not including that in any players contract. I mean, the sox apparently offered similar money, so why would Tex choose the yanks? I dont know. Maybe Jeter threatened to put a hit on him?

Bucky7588 said...

The sox didn't want to give him 8 years, i think that was it

Fred Trigger said...

Really? I thought they offered him 8@185mil.

I love Johan but got CC.
I like Manny but I'm not gonna have him.
I hate you, Santa Claus.

Santa Claus does need to pay what he owe. (Boondocks, anyone?)

Fred Trigger..I love the boondocks refrence..didnt they have a baseball episode..or was that basketball..either way funny stuff....imagine riley out there getting a bad call. yelling at one of the umps.."what m***** game is you watching ref?"

Fred Trigger said...

I think it was a basketball episode, where he was getting schooled by a white girl ( I wish I could remeber her name), so he decided to start smack talking her about how her mom was a ho. It was something like that. I have season 2, so I will have to review it. I'll get back to you.

much obliged trigger...(it wasnt jasmin was it? the black lawyer and white womens little spawn of pepppyness...) she a bit TOO sunshiney for me.

Fred Trigger said...

no, no. She was the one in the comics that always asked Huey if he remembered Kwanzaa, or Dr. Martin Luther King day. CINDY! Thats who it was! Good thing I had my "Boondocks Anthology" on standby. Yeah, she was smack talking Riley, and then he turned the tables, and then some handicapped kid ended up making the winning shot in Rileys face. Man, I cant wait for season 3. Oh yeah....baseball blog. ummmmm.....so, yeah.....Marky T signed with the Empire.....sox rule! (sneaks out of blogosphere ninja like)

Roberto E. Alejandro said...

I wonder if Bronny wore a ninja costume while he negotiated the Teixeira deal.

Fred Trigger said...

Bronny Cash (dressed as ninja): so, we are interested in your services.

Marky T: who are you?

BC: That should not concern you. However, this might (unveils case full of $180 million).

MT: Well, thats good and all, but, who do you work for?

BC: (In really fast mumbled ninja speak langauge) the NY yankees, we will offer you more than any other team, AND give you a full no trade clause. (throws suitcase full of money at feet, takes off mask for effect, runs across lake barefoot into the night).

MT:Bronny Cash, you SOB, you had me at "so". (tear dripping down face as he accepts contract)

TOTALY!!! C-Money went all stealth commando on the red soxs..They thought they was slick saying "oh...we've been outbid"...they must of sent their ninja suits to the cleaners, while the yankees took them to the cleaners...yankee pride has been replinished..you gotta look at them and say "damn...thoese some bad mother shut yo mouths"....instead of whining, you think the other teams will invest more in scouting and building from within. Maybe even extra effort to scout in america. I am all for expanding and getting players of diff ethnicity (like the indian players makeing a lil buzz)but I'd like to see another barry bonds, minus the juice. or a hank aaron.

Fred Trigger said...

ummm, Ruthie, you know I'm a red sox fan, right? I was kind of making fun of Bronny on that last post.

Anonymous said...

yea i knew. i was sorta responding to roberto, but your comment was funny. i was pictureing a badly drawn anime in my head the whole time. / side note: one of my best friends is a red sox fan..he always calls me joba, and i call him youkillis and we throw paper ball at each other. we get along fine though..but omg we went to yankee stadium this year iwth our class and he got ripped by this one drunk dude. i felt so bad!

Fernando Alejandro said...

Don't feel too bad Ruthie. If it was you in Fenway, you would have received similar treatment.

Joe, I agree with you. This is looking pretty good. This isn't a big money contract to a declining player. If anything, we might see a little more pop out out of Teixeira. After spending this much money though they better get to the world series.

Anonymous said...

very true...you wont catch me in fenway without 16 of the worlds most sloppiest drunks new york has to offer../ with all this money there better be a 2nd coming of jesus with that world series...it really sucks how all these other teams are hopping on all this salary cap business...if they were the gm of a 26 time world series championship team who just ruined a 13 year post season apperence, had several of you top guys sit out on the DL and had pretty much a blank check to right some wrong, they wouldnt be calling foul.
