Crystal Guiness Ball Fails Me Again!

The Good

Hughes did a good job pitching in relief. Wang didn't get lit up like he has been all season, but he also didn't really pitch a good game. 5 inning 3 runs is barely passable. There were 4 stolen bases last night as the Yankees really tried to get something going, but alas, the powerful Braves would have none of it.

The Bad

Limp bat syndrome is a rare yet serious condition that afflicts every member of the New York Yankees. With every donation you make to LBS research, we get one step further to figuring out why the Yankees suck.

The Ugly

It turns out you lose every game you score 0 runs in.

Respect Jeter's Gangster is for the Children

The "Respect Jeter's Gangster" blog joined Johnny Damon's home run club, which raises money for the Children's Health Fund. We are pledged to donate $1.00 for every homerun the Yankees hit this season. No homeruns once again as the Yankees just aren't all that interested in winning right now.

Jorge Posada 9hr = $9.00
Hideki Matsui 10hr = $10.00
Derek Jeter 9hr = $9.00
Mark Teixeira 20hr = $20.00
Nick Swisher 12hr = $12.00
Robinson Cano 12hr = $12.00
Johnny Damon 14hr = $14.00
Melky Cabrera 7hr = $7.00
Jose Molina 1hr = $1.00
Alex Rodriguez 9hr = $9.00
Brett Gardner 2hr = $2.00
Total = $105.00

If you are interested in Johnny Damon's Homerun Club or the Children's Health Fund you can find links to both at the top right hand corner of our page.

...not interested in winning, and hitting anything, let alone home runs outside of non-little league sized ballparks...

I just wanted to vent about something outside of hitting for a second, without diminishing the fact that we can't hit worth a lick right now. This is an awful team fundamentally, or at least it has been for about the last 18 games. I keep going back to Nick Swisher's crazy running mistakes during the latest sweep that shall not be named. How was he not benched mid-game? If not mid game, the next game. What message does that send? I know that we're hurting in the outfield, so that had to come into play. But geez...I've read some comments around other blogs about how Josh Beckett sent this team into a tailspin, I can't remember but maybe Michael Kay said something of the like last night. But i propose the following: could it be that Nick Swisher's awful plays did the same? I don't meant to pick on him, and I don't boo our players, but I've been unable to shake those miscues from my memory...

Anyways sorry for that rant within a rant, on to my point: I know that it didn't matter since we failed to score again, but what about Melky trying to take 3rd on a grounder hit IN FRONT OF HIM last night?? I know that in the end it didn't matter because we SUCK. But if not for the error, the awful awful error that turned out to not be so awful because WE SUCK, he's a dead duck at 3rd base. It just screams as a perfect synecdoche for what our team is doing right now, don't you guys think so? The defense last night, from he who shall not be named, again costing us...aaah i can't keep going haha...No fundamentals, no defense. It's like a shadow of the team that went on a pretty good run a month ago. Makes me sad.

you guys remember this place? - http://www-pub.naz.edu:9000/~jdittma2/images/yankee%20stadium%20from%20the%20top%20level.jpg

I'm thinking of boycotting the boys for tonight, thoughts?

Again thanks for having this blog. Please make fun of me if what I've written is ridiculous.

It's not ridiculous Big West, except for your use of "synecdoche." But you're right, we can't have Melky pulling his absent minded base running routine right now. And Swisher did hurt us in Boston.

A boycott isn't a bad idea. In fact, I've refused to sit in the Legends Seat all year just to prove a point. In fact, at some point soon, we may have to consider a Jane Heller and just divorce this team for emotional cruelty. Or we could pull a J-Lo in "Enough," where we run away from the team with our love child, learn Karate, and then when the Yankees come looking for us to take back the kid, we kick their ass.

Don't pull a Jane Heller unless you want tons of hate mail. :) But my husband actually said these words last night: "Why am I sitting here watching this crap?" That's what this slump or whatever it is has done - created a feeling of not wanting to watch the games. I agree with Big West that the fundamentals have been horrible. But I believe it's all about A-Rod in the sense that they picked it up when he came off the DL (Teixeira? Hello?) and started fading when he went into his fatigue state. Coincidence? Who really knows, but I think not having a cleanup hitter who's performing is a killer. We're also better when a healthy Damon is batting in the 2 spot.

At least the Guiness I was inspired to have last night tasted good.

I agree with Quinn. Get Bronny on the phone. I want some @#$%^&*! answers!!!

It is feeling like last season and the season before that.

Just had a thought, could the constant rain we have been having in New York have anything to do with the Yankees slump and all the Mets injuries be related? Is the city cursed?

Yeah, its not pretty. The team is too good to continue this way though. The baseball card rule will eventually kick in for A-Rod even without the boli coursing through his veins. I didn't get Guiness last night, but I'm pretty much due!
