The Good
We won a game! I guess my call to Bronny Cash really fired up the troops. The Yankees came to the defense of the embattled (by me) GM of the Yankees, delivering an 8-4 victory over the Braves. Even A-Rod hit with 2 outs and the bases loaded. They clearly love the Cash.
The Bad
Brian Bruney, our much anticipated bridge to Mariano, only managed 2 outs in the eighth, then gave up a run. Mo had to come in for a 4 out save.
The Ugly
Mo came up in the ninth, with the bases loaded and 2 outs. He popped out to right, again failing to drive in a single run. Mo has zero RBI on the season. A DFA or trade cannot be far away.
Cause for Celebration
Today, Franky Cervs hit his first major league home run. In honor of Cervelli, we will donate $1 to the Johnny Damon Home Run Club, which raises money for something. Swisher also hit a home run, as has been pointed out by UK.
Jorge Posada 9hr = $9.00
Hideki Matsui 10hr = $10.00
Derek Jeter 9hr = $9.00
Mark Teixeira 20hr = $20.00
Nick Swisher 13hr = $13.00
Robinson Cano 12hr = $12.00
Johnny Damon 14hr = $14.00
Melky Cabrera 7hr = $7.00
Jose Molina 1hr = $1.00
Alex Rodriguez 9hr = $9.00
Brett Gardner 2hr = $2.00
Francisco Cervelli 1hr = $1.00
Total = $107.00

Swisher also homered.
also i think the presence of bronny scared the team shitless. so thats why they won. heres to hoping arod can come around and start hitting. oh and my boy the CISCO KID coming up big. for some reason i like that guy he seems to hustle on every play. not trying to start a huge debate about him or posada but does anyone think that maybe he caught joba because of the last time with posada joba and him kinda argued? any thoughts?
Good call UK, I completely forgot about Swisher's homer. I'll fix that post haste.
It's possible Quinn, though that would seem to be giving Joba, essentially a rookie starter, a lot of pull. I suspect it was just Pos's night to sit, but you could be right.
Way to lay into Bronny. You guys got the fire burning again. Between that and She-Fan's hunger strike I hope we broke the hex. Only a series win tonight will let us know for sure. To be safe I will be sacrificing a chicken in the break room at lunch today.
Jorge who?
Mo was AWESOME tonight. It was really nice to watch him dominate.
I think we saw the key to winning Yankees baseball last night. Hit the opposing starting pitcher in the face and neck with batted balls. He was mowing them down, granted it was only once through the order.
I also don't want to go into the whole Posada vs. anybody else thing, but I really like watching Cervelli play. He seems old school and seems like he's just having a good time. I think he and Joba are a good battery to watch because they are both feisty (according to the media in Joba's case it's a lack of class). Cervelli broke out the fist pump for a few strikeouts.
At the end of the day, this team needs Posada. But Cervelli has provided a spark, no question. Cervelli's role will be an interesting question for next year.
I think Cervelli will be taking the back up catching role from Molina next season.
kawakami was dealing in his short 'tour of duty' through the line up....atleats he's alright..worked out in the yanks favor. and a sloppy inning here or there also helped out/Cervelli is my italian stallion..he may just be moving in on robbies place in my heart =P/ I personally love a coach who will go balistic for his team..gardner was safe and i say Joe should of thrown a rosen bag ala world war I style and really spark the offense..but all things considered this was great for the confidence and I wanna see my gritty, scrappy yankees take this series and pull a sweep against the mets!(side note:my birthday is on sunday so a win is mandatory)
