Yanks Take Series Lead

The Good

We scored runs and Gaudin retaliated for Gardner being hit in the leg by hitting Cabrera in the back. He also let the air out of Cabrera's tires and smashed all his windows. It was a rental and Cabrera didn't take out the extra insurance with the lower deductible, so that's pretty f@#ked up. He also peed in Cabrera's locker between innings.

The Bad

The Tigers threw at both Jeter and Cano after the Gaudin incident but we were too busy winning to get them back. We owe them two.

The Ugly

After the game, Girardi was quoted as saying, "I just think it got ugly." He wasn't referring to the game, but to Jim Leyland's face. This series just got interesting.

I Have the Power

Actually, three Yankees had the power last night. Teixeira continues to mash, hitting his 27th home run. Cano followed up Teixeira's first inning blast with one of his own. Granderson also hit a home run in the 5th. Remember when we traded for Granderson and all thought he'd hit at least 35 home runs in Yankee Stadium? Well, with his new swing, that still might happen.

Posada 13hr = $26
Granderson 13hr = $26
Cano 23hr = $46
Swisher 22hr = $44
Jeter 9hr = $18
Johnson 2hr = $4
Rodriguez 21hr = $42
Teixeira 27hr = $54
Thames 4hr = $8
Gardner 5hr = $10
Winn 1hr = $2
Miranda 3hr = $6
Curtis 1hr = $1
Kearns 1hr = $1
Total = $290

Apparently Damon thinks Gardner was "dirty" for sliding into second to break up a double play, even though he didn't go in with his cleats, nor did he slide outside of the base path, but simply at the defender standing on the bag (the definition of a clean attempt to break up the play).

Its natural to be jealous of your replacement.

This is the classic line when you've hit someone:

"It just got away from me, as simple as that," Gaudin said. "I didn't do it on purpose."

That's as good as it gets right there.

We must win today. That's all I'm saying.

I feel the same way. We need a series win, especially with TB going on all cylinders.

It's nice to see Damon continuing his tradition of making exceptionally dumb comments to the press.

Especially good recap today. Nice work.

Thank you, but I can't take too much credit. I simply report the facts as they happened, no spin, you decide.
