We Wish You the Best

We here at the RJG blog often take our inspiration from other writers in the Yankee blogosphere, and there are plenty of good writers to read out there. One of our favorites in the Yankee blogging world has been the Lohud Yankees Blog of Peter Abraham. Peter Abraham is a journalist for the Journal News, and his blog has grown very popular with the fans. Along with in game posts and updates, Peter has frequently given us exclusive interviews, insights, and audio of the Q & A sessions the media has with players. Some who read this blog may have stumbled across us from Peter Abraham's site since he was one of the first people to link to us.

Peter Abraham recently took a job for the Boston Globe, and will soon be taking his talent and energy to the Red Sox side of the rivalry. Red Sox fans don't know how lucky they are. It was Peter Abraham that actually inspired us to start this blog back in the winter of 2008. The way he mixed humor and sarcasm with the realities of the baseball world was what attracted us to his site, and helped mold our own approach when thinking about how we would author this blog.

The truth is, we are going to miss him. There are many great blogs to read out there, but losing this one hurts. We'll miss Peter Abraham, and we'll make sure to heckle him at whatever Boston blog he starts writing in the future. Good luck with everything Pete! I hope this move will prove beneficial for your career, and that you will find success in all you do! Don't forget about us out here!

I know. When I first read it my first thought was "He's going to cover the Yankees for the Boston Globe?" Then when the shock settled I finally accepted the reality.

Pete Abe set the standard for prompt updates and full coverage of a team via blog, and no one has been better in terms of all NYY news all the time. His analysis was not as reliable but what can you expect when he's producing such frequent reports -- how could he have time to reflect?

Not to be Pollyanna-ish, but this may be for the best for him, not only in terms of going to a bigger, better paper and returning to live near family, but also in that he was turning more and more to a sort of canned format on his game blogs and I saw it as a beginning sign that he was starting to repeat himself. Might be he needed new challenges to keep the creativity high.

congrats to pete but now he is the other side of the line. i will read his updates only to find out with the sox are doing. and i hope we can just piss pound them for now until eternity. but i did sent pete an email and he did respond so it does mean a lot to him if you eamil he has been a good beat writer but lets hope the fill his spot with a true blue yankees fan. because he probably will be covering the sox for the playoffs and lets hope he gets a nice long winter break.

I actually stumbled across Pete from you guys - you came up in my daily Jeter google alert one day, and ta-da! Besides this blog - his is the only other Yankee blog I read every single day, often more than once to catch updates. I'm definitely going to follow him in Boston to see what the enemy is up to. I know he said there is a replacement coming, but are there any other blogs that do "during the game" updates like Pete? Very helpful when no Yankee coverage available.

TribeGirl- Mark Feinsand of the Daily News has taken it upon himself to step up his blogging efforts in an attempt to replace Pete as master Yankee blogger. I think he's doing a good job so far. His blog is called Blogging The Bombers. (I would give you a link but I'm on my iPod)

Mark's linked on this blog too. I actually found Pete through Mark's site, back when Pete was, believe it or not, on blogger.

Its a great move for him, and I hope he has a ton of success. I'll still read him even on that side of the rivalry. Mark, is a great read too, my only issue was that he didn't post as frequently, and when you're looking to kill time you like to be able to read the 10 updates Pete would post a day. But I still read Mark regularly and recommend it.
