The Rakuten Golden Eagles have posted Tanaka. Normally this would be grounds for celebration, but in doing so the Golden Eagles have made a couple of my previous posts completely moot, making me look like a complete @$$hole.
You'll pay for this Golden Eagles!! You'll Pay!! You better save those $20 million you get from the posting fee, you're going to need them for Youkilis's medical bills.

The Golden Eagles (is that the Japanese equivalent of Devil Rays? Will they someday become just the Rakuten Eagles? Does Japan have golden eagles?) had almost every reason to keep Tanaka for another year, and had said they would do that, so I'm surprised they reversed course. I'm fascinated with finding out how much he will get.
I'd like to know how Rakuten spins this for their fans. Sorry we lost our young, 24-0 pitcher who led us to our first championship because he wanted more money to play for a MLB team. But hey, we've got Youkilis now.

Merry Christmas Rich! Yeah, this is a baffling move by them. Maybe they're getting some under the table money from Selig. Or the Yankees for that matter. I hear bribes don't count towards payroll!
