NY Post Wins Award

I'm by and large ready to move on from this A-Rod thing, and get to some baseball. I know more will be written about it, and different takes will be presented, but its basically over. Now that we've gotten to this point, its safe to award the newspaper that had the dumbest things to say about this steroid situation, and the award goes to the New York Post. A week ago I pointed out the article the Post ran about A-Rod going to the gym. I'm not sure what the Post thought they had there, but it was a complete waste of time. Today, I read one of the NY Post blogs on A-Rod talking about how Damon said that there were worst things A-Rod could have done, and that A-Rod's a super nice guy whose always been nice to him. The post ends with the following sentence:

"Well, it's just shocking someone so 'super nice' would even consider steroids."

Yeah, because if we know anything about steroids its that only jerks are allowed to take it. I've read some of the dumbest things about this steroid situation. It would be good for the field of journalism if they would collectively move on. This is not to say everyone is off base. In fact, the NY Post veteran beat writers had some decent takes on the issue. However, this situation has brought the worse out of beat writers everywhere, and as my brother has already pointed out, many of these same writers were all too happy to ignore this topic back in the homerun chase era. Well, the homerun chase was the big story then, and A-Rod's steroid use is the big story now. I say we all just move on.

Just one thing in the Post's defense. George King was the one at the press conference who said, "What's the name of your cousin?" Simple question. Good question.

George King & Joel Sherman are pretty good, along with some of the other veteran guys. Unfortunately, the Post has many other writers who are less noteworthy.

Yeah, that was pretty dumb! Nice guys don't take steroids. WTF???

She-Fan - It was a good question, but I agree with ARod not giving the name. Why should he? It was about him and he wasn't trying to sell anyone else down the river. I wouldn't give the name either - especially since it's family. Next thing you know, the Feds or whoever will go after him for bringing the stuff into the country, although there has to be a statute of limitations on that sort of thing. If I'm ARod, I still would say "crucify me like you are and leave everyone else out of it." He's given us plenty. Like someone said in another post, we know he did it. We don't need to know all the details. Hopefully the media will move on, but I doubt it...

This IS over. He took PEDs. He apologized, but he's never going to make the kind of absolute-full-disclosure apology that guys like Joel Sherman or Mike Francesca want him to make. Let's move on. That's basically what most of the NYY bloggers are saying.

The problem is, if this story remains something that keeps coming up, it'll be because the media keeps bringing it up. It's like Paris Hilton. Once the media stopped talking about how much people care about her, they found out how little people actually cared about her.

So, you guys can stop posting about it anytime...

Yea, more or less, this is the bulk of the additions they gonna make to his yankeeography lol
But I forgive him.. whats not so endearing is the BS!!!... i mean comeon, you didnt know what you were takeing or that it would be looked upon as bad? then you contrdict yourself and say you knew you weret takeing tic tacs? ehh.. that load of crap almost left stains on my tv...that pause was ridiculous...a simple 10 second pause would have saficed... omg i could go on and on, and you guy here at RJG know that, but i wont. He;s got more of my support now then at the end of th 08' season which is sad.I just want to see everyone get back to baseball.. 8 more days people.8 more days... =)

And by forgive, i mean i am not gonna bust his balls on the subject.. forgive as in moveing on from the situation and giveing him the benefit of the doubt that 07' is duplicable and even surpassabel....(that would REALLY help)

I love the part when Johnny ssid at least Alex didn't kill anyone.
It almost made me choked on my tea.

Yeah, I liked what Damon had to say, but that guy didn't seem to impressed.

Total Blam-Blam, though I agree with the sentiment to move on, this isnt' a story that is going to go away right now. I think it will be gone by the time the season starts (granted no more news comes out), but right now we're in the heart of it.
