Yankees Heed RJG Advice, Win Cleanly

The Good

CC Sabathia went 8 innings allowing just 1 run, while Hideki Matsui went 4-5 with 2 homeruns and 5 RBI's. The Yankees scored 11 runs against the Mariners. Finally, the Yankees won a game without having to come from behind, or hit a walk-off in extra innings.

The Bad

No bad. I know, its rare, but there was literally nothing bad about it.

The Ugly

Alex Rodriguez missed the game with a sore elbow after being plunked in yesterdays game. Toronto needs to fall.

Respect Jeter's Gangster is for the Children

The "Respect Jeter's Gangster" blog joined Johnny Damon's home run club, which raises money for the Children's Health Fund. We are pledged to donate $1.00 for every homerun the Yankees hit this season. Derek Jeter hit his 14th homerun of the season, while Matsui hit two homeruns to show how much he cares about children's health.

Jorge Posada 15hr = $15.00
Hideki Matsui 19hr = $19.00
Derek Jeter 14hr = $14.00
Mark Teixeira 29hr = $29.00
Nick Swisher 18hr = $18.00
Robinson Cano 18hr = $18.00
Johnny Damon 22hr = $22.00
Melky Cabrera 11hr = $11.00
Jose Molina 1hr = $1.00
Alex Rodriguez 21hr = $21.00
Brett Gardner 3hr = $3.00
Francisco Cervelli 1hr = $1.00
Eric Hinske 5hr = $5.00
Jerry Hairston Jr. 1hr = $1.00
Total = $178.00

That was sure a fun one to watch.
Being a cheap bastard, and the Mariners being my "local" team on fox, the only series I get to watch every game are the Seattle ones.

On another happy note, I'm becoming a big Rangers fan. Here's to them taking a nice lead in the Wild Card now!

I know! I'm hoping they can run away with it. But I'm also torn because I love Red Sox Yankees post season baseball so much.

What I've learned by watching Shogun, The Last Samurai and Tora, Tora, Tora is that with Matsui hitting two home runs and 5 rbi's at Safeco Field, Ichiro has lost face and must commit hari kari on the pitcher's mound before tonight's game

Steve, I think Ichiro will overcome the shame by dwelling on Godzilla driving him in enough so he can hold the single season runs record to go with his hits record next year.
Still, I better set up the receiver to catch the pregame show tonight.
Thse Seattle announcers are a kick in the ass anyway.

I love the Sox/Yankee series, too, but I'd rather win.
Pretty sure thing facing Texas in Round 1.
Not so sure a thing facing the Sox.
Then, there's the Angels...

Haha, I think Ichiro will get over it.

Joe, I just think that a world series title would be more glorifying if we got it climbing over the Red Sox. Climbing over the Rangers just doesn't do the trick. That being said, I do hope the Rangers pound the Sox in this next series.

Now think of Varitek sitting in front of his TV in October, his son next to him, pulling on his sleeve..."Dad? You couldn't even beat THESE guys?"

Haha, I guess I never thought of it that way.

Couple years ago, Tek created a warm fuzzy photo op sitting in his driveway on halloween, handing all the trick or treaters autographs instead of candy.
I'd love it if he had the chance to be home for halloween this year, sitting in his lawn chair, watching all the little ET's and princesses and Hellboys skip his house, doing the "L" hand signal on their foreheads on their way by.
Or, stopping by saying "Where's the candy? We don't take autographs from .220 hitters."
(Damn Tesas anyway!)
