A Pox on Both Their Houses?

First Wainwright and now Chris Carpenter has gone down with an injury. Did Pujols curse the Cards after they failed to pay him $30M a year for infinity? It's really the only logical conclusion.

Back in the Fifties, Cards GM Frank Lane was threatened by the popularity of Stan Musial, and was ready to trade him for... who knows, maybe three scrubs and a bag of balls. Stan the Man showed him who really had a bag of balls, went to Gussie Busch, and soon Stan was still in St. Louis and Lane wasn't. Maybe the same thing is about to happen here.

Of course, it meant that Lane went to Cleveland, where he traded away Roger Maris, Rocky Colavito and Minnie Minoso, wrecking a pretty good franchise for the next 2 generations, so maybe Stan, Frank and Gussie should've worked it out.

In fairness, 3 scrubs and a bag of balls is what the Twins got for Johan Santana. Zing!
