Yankees Win Seventh Straight

The Good

The Yankees continued their second hand dominance with a 3-6 win over the Athletics. Hughes had his first career save, meaning we can look forward to arguing over whether he should be a reliever or starter next spring training.

The Bad

I turned to my brother during last night's broadcast and posed this question: "Who is the Yankees first base coach?" He just stared blankly into his seventh beer. Bucky was all like, "The Yankees have a first base coach?" Exactly. Nobody knows that guy's name. Nobody. I'm not even sure he knows it. We all knew who it was when Tony Pena was the first base coach, now nobody knows.

The Ugly

Selena has pitched a book about RJG to her publisher. They're considering it. For obvious reasons, we're less than pleased.

RJG Makes Peace With Its Bad Deeds

As part of our spiritual recovery, RJG donates money to Johnny Damon's second favorite charity, Homers for Babies. We can not, however, bring ourselves to give to his favorite charity, the Republican Party. Marky T hit another one out last night, earning another dollar for babies.

Jorge Posada 12hr = $12.00
Hideki Matsui 15hr = $15.00
Derek Jeter 10hr = $10.00
Mark Teixeira 24hr = $24.00
Nick Swisher 14hr = $14.00
Robinson Cano 14hr = $14.00
Johnny Damon 16hr = $16.00
Melky Cabrera 8hr = $8.00
Jose Molina 1hr = $1.00
Alex Rodriguez 19hr = $19.00
Brett Gardner 3hr = $3.00
Francisco Cervelli 1hr = $1.00
Eric Hinske 4hr = $4.00
Total = $141.00

If you are interested in Johnny Damon's Homerun Club or the Children's Health Fund you can find links to both at the top right hand corner of our page.

That's funny you mention the first base coach. I have actually looked it up before but I still can't remember. I guess that means he is doing an okay job because no one is bitching about him. Tonight let's go for A-Rod and Kate Plus 8 (wins that is)! Let's go Yanks!

Yeah, we got quite the roll right now. Lets see how far they extend it.

Kim Jones interviewed him in the Pre-game a couple of weeks ago... seems capable, kind of weird, and your right - I have no idea what his name was.

everyone knows Thompson because he's the guy we get pissed at when he makes a mistake sending the runner. The first base coach is just there, I'm not even sure it's a real job, and was probably just part of the government stimulus package to put more Americans to work. No one knows that guy's name. We looked it up yesterday and I already forgot.

Its something like Mick Kelleher or something to that effect. I suppose I could just look it up, but that would require opening a new tab, going to Yankees.com, and clicking around until I find the coaching staff, and that's simply too much work right now.

What kind of interview did he do with Kim Jones? What do you ask a first base coach?

I forget what he and Kim Jones spoke about... ah wait... he knew / was friends with Swisher's parents?

I think he set them up or at least had some type of gansta relationship with Swisher's mom.

Not sure if he knew the Grandparents or if he can see them sitting on top of the jumbo-tron though. He might have super powers. It's hard say. He can't use them as a 1B coach.

...oh and Kim asked him how much he loves the Yankee stadium food. They made a list of things you can order while at the new stadium. I think they were reading menus at one point.

End of the interview was played out with a game of "I'm going on a picnic and I'm going to bring..." and they had to list food they saw on the concourse.

Former great Mick Kelleher. That man could pound more than a few.
