Chien-Ming Wang Joins 'Em

It is being reported that Chien-Ming Wang has decided to go to the Nationals. I remember a few years ago, Wang carried a shut-out into the ninth inning of a game against the Nats. The score was 1-0 and then he gave up a bomb that cost him the game. They say, 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.' Wang will soon join 'em. I can only wish Wang the best. His two 19 win seasons in '06 and '07 were great, and we all thought we had an ace in the making. One can only wonder what would've happened if he had decided to simply leave the bat on his shoulder that day in Houston. Good luck, Wang!

now it's being reported that Wang hasn't decided yet. But I'm inclined to go with Pete on this one, since he is quite close to Wang.

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!! (again) (but yeah, Wang is one of Pete's pets that he would never say anything bad about)

A truly lovable Yankee. Plus he fills our Asian quota.

oh shit do we have any members of our Asian quota left?!

I always liked CMW. I hope he does OK with the Nats, if that's really where he's going. I heard the Dodgers removed themselves from going for Wang (I did that on purpose, thank you), so if Torre looked at those medicals and said "that's a no" then... eek...

At least in Washington he won't have to worry about choking in the postseason.

If Wang can go for $2MM, I say why not take the chance to keep him, eh Bronny? I still remember when Wang was sooo good for the Yanks. Are the Yankees just intent on writing him off?

You really wanna play the agonizing "what-if" game? If you don't remember... the batter after CMW during that game when he got injured running was Johnny Damon. There were two outs in the inning, and Johnny grounded weakly to shortstop. It should have ended the inning, but the shortstop made an error, allowing it to go on. The next batter, Jeter, got a hit... and the rest is awful awful history. And the game was a blowout too!!!!! Aaaagh!!!

I do wish Wang all the luck in the world. Though I hope he sucks against the Yankees. ;)

Anonymous, based on your "he's only $2 million" logic, why isn't every team in baseball giving him offers? Because most teams believe that the odds of him returning as an effective, healthy starter aren't good enough to justify a $2 million investment. The Yankees should know more about Wang's medicals than anyone. I think we need to give them the benefit of the doubt here, especially considering that the Yankees would need to pay luxury tax on top of Wang's contract and give up a roster spot if they sign him, and already have a stacked rotation. He wants to start so he can get a big contract in 2011, not me stashed in the Yankees' minor league system as a replacement option.

I wish I was stashed in the Yankees' minor league system as a replacement option.
