Honestly, This Is Sad

David 'Big Papi' Ortiz went 0-7 yesterday and stranded 12 runners. According to CNNSI, Ortiz "dressed slowly while facing his corner locker, then turned around and saw a swarm of reporters surrounding him before saying: ''Sorry, guys. I don't feel like talking today. Just put down, 'Papi stinks.'''"

I've never liked Ortiz, but that's because he always killed us. He was a great player, and a genuine person, but he was a Red Sock so he sucked. But watching this, and hearing a quote like that, is just sad. I honestly feel bad for the guy. I can't say I hope he turns it around, but, as much as it pains me to say it, I do hope he starts doing better, against the Devil Rays and Blue Jays anyway. After all, he taught Manny how to use steroids.

I agree, this is sad, but I don't really want him to start playing any better against us. Oh well, I guess he can dry his tears with his millions of dollars. At least we can be pretty sure he is off the juice.

I definitely don't need him playing better against us, though he had some big hits against us when we played, which sucks. what can you do?

Man, that was so nice and sincere until the very last sentence, so.....hater.

It is very sad watching his approach at the plate, he looks like a shell of his former self.

I think he feels too guilty about introducing Manny to steroids.

He's in a deep, deep depression about breaking his part of his pact with Manny to carry each other's love child because of some stupid, repressive baseball rule.

not sad at all. this is am man who went from being on the verge of being out of baseball to becoming of of the most feared hitters in baseball. and roberto i completely agree about introducing manny to steriods. you could see that conversation. "manny you inject this and you become better without even working that hard. no sympathy for a man who used to beat on the yankees. i hope he gets dfa'ed

It's even sadder watching Tex these days. What's his excuse?

Roberto E. Alejandro said...

Tex has developed an irrational fear of hitting. It's a condition similar to Knoblauch (?) being unable to throw to first. Sports psychologists are working round the clock to fix him. That and he sucks.

Maybe Tex needs to go on the DL with an anxiety disorder.

I can't believe steroids provide you with that much of a physical edge, but 'genuine' Papi must be missing the mental crutch. Too bad for the Sox.

I wonder when fiddlin' Joe wll move Tex and Alex down in the batting order? Tex is developing a twitch. As for Alex, he looks stiff.

Papi is devastated by the fact that Manny dumped him for Joe Torre.
Make Jason Bay grow dreadlocks and Papi will recover in no time.

Haha, Jason Bay in dreads is a funny mental picture.
