A Couple Things Worth Noting

Two interesting articles in the Daily News I thought worth mentioning. The first points out that Johnny Damon is still playing with an injured left shoulder. I had completely forgotten about that and it certainly makes the way Damon has been playing that much more impressive.

The second is an open letter to George Steinbrenner by columnist Bill Maddon detailing everything wrong with the New Yankee Stadium. In a nut shell: COO Lonn Trost, who knows nothing about baseball or stadium designs, basically built a place for his rich friends to come and hang out while actual fans (you and me) get priced out. It's pretty scathing, but it's true. This stadium was definitely not designed for people who have to wait a paycheck or two before paying the next round of bills. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful stadium. I just wish I could afford to enjoy it a little more.

The first sign of trouble was when they announced that people without the fancy seats weren't allowed to come down and watch batting practice. Talk about taking away the fun of the true fan.

Yeah, that is the biggest slap in the face. Coming early to see batting practice and getting autographs is a baseball tradition. You wrote about doing that in your book Jane! I'm pretty much settled on the new stadium: It sucks. But perhaps this weekends games there will change my mind.

The thing about Yankee Stadium is that it's a stadium that knows its too good for you. The whole no autographs thing is a huge insult. If I can't get an autograph, who cares? But parents should be able to bring their kids early and have the experience of meeting their favorite player.

OMG?!?! You guys can't watch batting practice and get autographs??? That's crazy. Come to the Jake...well, Progressive Field now, when the Tribe plays the Yankees, so the kids can meet their heroes. It's a beautiful stadium without the pretentiousness of the new Yankee stadium apparently! That's just crazy that parents will have to take their kids to away games in order to do that!!!

The Progressive Field has magic. Carl the Ace WON again!

Yeah, Carl Pavano is exactly what we paid for only he's no longer with us.

Sorry guys ~ I'm digging Carl Pavano!!! Plus, we got him on the CHEAP!!! Don't feel too bad, Tribe has the worst record in baseball right now....says something when Carl is our ACE!
