Blog favorite Dallas Braden has just completed the 19th perfect game in Major League history. As much as I dislike the guy, it is quite an accomplishment.
Based on Braden's career rates for allowing baserunners (by hit, walk or error), Fangraphs calculates the odds of this perfecto as approximately 15.2 in a million.
That was really just an excuse to post again and express my disgust that this whiny bitch pitched a perfect game.
Some news sites are saying that Dallas assaulted 2 of his teammates in the locker room post-game. The incident stems from the 2 teammates accidently stepping on the pitching mound as they rushed to congratulate him.
Dallas was quoted as saying, "I know they didn't intend it, but you have to respect the game. The game is here, not to be played, but to be respected. Had I known they were going to step on the mound, I would have let the last batter get a hit, then gotten the next guy out, in order that the respect of the game would have been maintained."
I saw Braden's post game interview and the first thing he said, yelled really, after one of the interviewers said something to the effect of "a perfect game, what else is there to say," was "You ain't got nothing to say! It was perfect!" It was such a douchey moment. I don't know if he heard himself say it, because for the rest of the interview he was quite humble, giving credit to his teammates and whatnot. But it was not a great introduction to the man.
Alex should take credit for this perfect game. From now on, he is a lucky charm for pitchers, and whenever he feels like walking on a pitcher's mount magic will happen.

A pretty funny reaction from AJ Burnett.
That AJ Burnett reaction was fucking hysterical.
seriously, Rays. How are you so good and you get PERFECT GAME'd in consecutive years by Mark Buehrle and Dallas Braden?!
