Honestly?
Great comeback by the Sox tonight, no way around it. Down seven runs to nothing, they came back to win the game in dramatic fashion in the ninth. Even Papi had a big hit. I hope TB gets this thing over with in game six, because I think it favors the Sox if they can push it to a game seven.

nice bullpen management. no loogy to face ortiz, leaving wheeler in there. unreal.
Now I just want to keep whacking Joe Madden on his head for half an hour.
I have to agree, the Rays need to win today if they want to go to the World Series. The momentum would favor the Sox in game 7.
the Rays have a decent bullpen, but not enough automatic relievers. I was surprised he left wheeler in there too, but wheeler did break up with Maddon's daughter, so he was probably letting him get embarrassed on purpose. That or they didn't have many other good options.
I am the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays. Here is my bullpen.
Dan Wheeler 3.12ERA 53SO 66IP
JP Howell 2.22ERA 92SO 89IP
Grant Balfour 1.54ERA 82SO 58IP
That looks pretty automatic to me, my friend. Check out Balfours numbers. Those are pretty close to Riveraesque.
I'm with leftcoastyanksfan and raven. Leaving Wheeler in there made me want to whack Maddon on his head.
Balfour's numbers are good, wheeler is okay for a reliever, Howell more impressive, but who's their 7th inning guy who comes in to lock down that inning? or their 8th? or ninth? They don't have guys that you say, okay, it's late in the game, send him in and let's get this done.
I think the point is, there is no Mariano and Joba on this team, or conversely a Masterson and Papelbon.
They did have their Joba, aka David Price in the bullpen.
But somehow Mr. Mad decided not to use his Ace to be in that stupid game.
I think the kind-hearted Mr. Mad really wanted to clinch the ALCS title in front of their home fans, so he graciously granted a stupid Red Sox comeback.
They had David Price sitting in the pen and never went to him? I think he had as good a chance to be good in that game as any of the other arms coming out. Why do you have him on the roster if you're not going to use him? I give Boston no credit. This was a pure Tampa choke job. It would've been a choke job by Boston and Ortiz if those fat meatballs weren't roped over the walls. I can understand taking Kazmir out when they did. Not exactly a Torre job there, but that was ridiculous all around. I agree with the rest of you, if Tampa doesn't win Game 6, Boston's winning the series. That said, I think Tampa's going to win Game 6...not that I would root any other way. If Beckett manages to pitch well in this one, it would be the biggest acting job since the bloody sock.
