Giambi Avoids Sweep

The Good

Jason Giambi won this game by driving in all 3 runs the Yankees scored. Jeter had 3 hits, and the ever powerful Cody Ransom went 1-2 with a double. Mussina pitched as good as ever giving up 2 runs over 7 innings, but couldn't get the win as the Yankee offensive struggles continued. Bruney-Marte-Rivera finished the game with 2 innings of shutout ball. Marte's been looking better of late.

The Bad

Damon, Abreu, A-Rod, Cano, Matsui and Molina all went hitless yesterday. A-Rod struck out 3 times in 4 at bats and walked to the dugout in a chorus of boo's.

The Ugly

Its going to be tough for Mussina to get to 20 as he has about 5-6 starts left this season and needs a W in 4 of them. The Yankees needed to win for him yesterday, but they didn't. Now, its going to be a tough September.

Respect Jeter's Gangster is for the Children

The "Respect Jeter's Gangster" blog joined Johnny Damon's home run club, which raises money for the Children's Health Fund. We are pledged to donate $1.00 for every homerun the Yankees hit this season. We will keep a running tally of the home runs hit and the money donated throughout the season. Giambi hit another homerun yesterday to tie the game in the 7th off Okajima.
