The Good
The Yankees exploded for 16 hits and 9 runs last night as they took the lead in the 8th and put it further out of reach in the 9th. 4 Yankees hit homeruns last night including Cody Ransom who is now 2-2 with 2 homeruns in his big league career. Jeter hit his 2,500th hit, and Abreu went 5-5 with an RBI last night. They should bring the Venezuelan Little League team to every game. Veras-Marte-Rivera combined for 3 perfect innings despite Marte being as shaky as he was.
The Bad
Matsui was the unfortunate unlucky Yankee last night who did not receive an invite to the hits party. Sorry Matsui.
The Ugly
Moose was not very sharp last night. His final line of 6 innings and 4 runs wasn't horrible, but he was just having trouble putting guys away. I kind of hoped he'd hit 17 wins tonight to make September easier. By my count, he'll have either 5 or 6 more starts to win 4 games. He's going to have to be real sharp, and this offense needs to be real supportive.
Respect Jeter's Gangster is for the Children
The "Respect Jeter's Gangster" blog joined Johnny Damon's home run club, which raises money for the Children's Health Fund. 2-2 with 2 homeruns in his big league career is not enough to bring a big smile on Cody "Stone Face" Ransom's face. That may be the coolest and most gangster composure you can find in a Rookie.
I can't believe my eyes but Carl Pavano seems to be our Saviour.
If Pavano ends up saving the Yankees, I'm going to have to say that I called it. Admittedly, I said it as a joke, but still, I called it.
The 5 nasty strikeouts were quite impressive.
That was good, and he only walked one guy. Sure he hit two more, but still, 5 strikeouts to 2 hit batsman is not a bad ratio.
