At Least Moose is Pitching Tonight

Tonight Mike Mussina takes the mound against the Red Sox to try and avoid a sweep. The last time Mussina faced the Red Sox he pitched 6 innings of shutout ball. Here's hoping he secures win 17 on his quest for 20. We'll just have to see if the offense backs him up.

At this point, can we still get into the playoffs? Well, its not like the wild card and division have been clinched, but with the way the Yankees are playing, its very unlikely they gain any ground. If they step up their game, then they could potentially come back, but they haven't been able to do that all season so what's going to get them to start now? They are 7 games out of the wild card, and they've really sucked the last two games. They haven't been able to carry any momentum past 3 games, and they have a tough schedule coming up including 6 games with the Rays, 3 games with the White Sox, 3 games with the Angels, and 3 more games with the Red Sox. Not to mention several games left with the Blue Jays, who dominated this team the last time they played. The reality is, its still possible, but in my opinion the Yankees don't deserve to be in the playoffs the way they've played all season long.

i have two reasons to watch this game
1) I want moose to get 20 wins
2) I hope Joba will come out of the dugout and start throwing balls at Youkalis...

I would've loved to see Youkilus charge the mound. Unfortunately I think Joba would have kicked his ass. He strikes me as a guy who has insane retard strength. I know its blasphemus, but I'm rooting for Moose to win this game. I think he is a hall of famer as is, but I think a 20 win season will put him over the top. Even though I think wins are stupid, but the BBWAA still values them.

Sorry, I'm at work, so I couldn't do the live blogging. I just checked in though, and its brutal that they couldn't get a W for Moose. Any good that could have come out of this series is now gone.

Johnny, I'm interested to see Aceves pitch. I heard a lot of good things about him. I think the rest of this season should be used as a testing ground for some of these minor league guys. Might as well get Miranda up here as well. Gotta use this last month for something.

ACEVES WAS CALLED UP?

I'm interested in seeing Aceves too. My initial reaction today was wondering why they would give the league a look at him this season, but a win will bring back a little optimism. 6 back, 29 to play. Not likely to be done, would absolutely be a miracle, but Beckett's season may be done...

It was just a matter of time before Beckett hit the DL. He wasn't exactly an iron man with the Marlins.

I haven't lost complete hope after that Giambino win. But for the last 29 games they have to win at least 21.
they go 21-8, and of course, boston plays 500 ball
