How Is This Going To Turn Out?

Had the Yankees won today and then gone on to win the next two games this would be a very interesting September of baseball. Can it still be? If the Yanks win the next two they gain a game and will only be 4 behind the Sox. If they lose another or the next two that may be it. As much as I hate to say it, the Sox are not the 2007 Mets, they won't lose a 6 or 7 game lead in one month. So how do you think the series will turn out and what will it's ultimate effect on the season be?

This season will be officially over if the Yankees lose tonight.
I don't think our miserable pack of non-clutch hitters will suddenly hit like baseball legends in their prime overnight.
Paul Byrd is not an ace-type pitcher, but this team is famous for not being able to beat non-ace pitchers.
It doesn't look good.

Some home plate umpires sure are the living proof that human beings can be blinder than bats.

I agree. If they lose tonight, you can put it in the books, as Howie Rose would say. If they win the next 2 and go on a miraculous tear, it's still possible. In any case, making the playoffs at this point would be a miracle. Injuries make it possible that Boston could collapse, but Wakefield got away with not making quality pitches last night, Masterson has stabilized the bullpen, Lowrie is better than Lugo, Bay has held the ground lost by Manny's departure, and Lowell and Beckett are returning. The only hope is that Beckett comes back terrible and Wakefield remains hittable.

Also, if they lose tomorrow, the season is over. They need to win both, they need the series, they need to come out of this 1 game better than they went in. And even if they do, it's going to be near impossible. They have a better chance taking 6 out of 6 on the Rays and going for the division, LOL!

Speaking of which, I turned on the Rays game last night, and that team needs to move. Empty seats everywhere! I know it's a Tuesday night, I know school is starting, I know it's only the Blue Jays, but your team is in first place and about to make the playoffs for the first time in its history! Can you show up? Are there any Tampa Bay fans in the world? What's it going to look like when they clinch?! I would be annoyed beyond belief if I was the owner and saw all those empty seats. You would've thought they were dead in the water yet again. I've heard of frontrunning fans, but this is absurd!

Yeah, the Rays have always had that problem. They seem to be in a part of florida made up of non-floridian transplants who already have a favorite team so they don't root for the rays. To close to minor league complexes I guess.

But yeah, I think if they blow this series it's over. But who knows, maybe the Red Sox and Rays will decide they don't find baseball meaningful anymore and they'll all join the circus. Then we'd be in first place.

Yeah, where are the bandwaggon fans when you need them? Not to mention that their building a new ball park. If they can't fill this one with a winning season, I wonder what it will be like millions of dollars into a new stadium.

And Raven, I agree with you about the ump. Awful.

thanks for reminding me what my team did last year.

Are the Rays moving to Orlando? That would draw better crowds than being right across the street from Steinbrenner Field. They seemed to draw OK for those games in the Disney complex.
