Nady: The Greatest Power Hitter of All Time?

Its been no secret that since his acquisition, Xavier Nady has been one of the most productive hitters in the lineup. In the month of August, Nady has hit .322 with 5 homeruns and 14 RBI's. Compare these stats to the following big boys in August:

A-Rod

.241 average, 5 homeruns, 12 RBI's.

Abreu

.303 average, 1 homerun, 7 RBI's.

Giambi

.214 average, 4 homeruns, 10 RBI's.

So in conclusion, Xavier Nady is the greatest power threat of all time. The numbers don't lie. The end.

I hear Sterling even mistakingly called Ransom's homer as being by Nady, further proving the greatness that is Nady's wood. And his bat's pretty good too, I suppose...

The question is will Nady replace Abreu next season. I don't think the Yankees will sign Abreu next season, and Nady is quite the cheaper alternative.

when is matsui's contract up? i've never been too impressed with him and id rather have nady and abreu than nady and matsui

First of all, I find this post highly offensive. Everyone knows that I'm the greatest power hitter of all time! Second, nice work with the double entendre bigjf. Third of all Matsui has never impressed me that much either. I'd like to keep Nady but I'm not sure I'm ready to toss Matsui.

he's a boras client so i am not sure how cheap he really will be

Matsui was our best hitter before going down with the injury. Him and Damon signed the same contract before the 2006 season. 2009 is the last season for them both under contract.

Nady is an interesting case, because I don't know if he'll be a free agent this off season. I believe this will be his 5th year of Major League Time, which puts him 1 year shy of free agency. We may very well be getting one year of Xavier Nady playing for a contract. However, if I misread that, than he's a free agent this season. Still though, Abreu would command more money than Nady, and Nady's 4 years younger. It could be a tough outfield market this year. A quick look at potential free agents doesn't show any promise.

nady still has one more year i believe. but i agree. hes a cheaper more consistent abreu. i like bobby and if they can sign bobby for cheap then lets keep him. but i doubt hes going to go cheap. lets hope they can put something together this week... by the way.. anyone at this point in the season think the rotation for this series would by raz, andy, and ponson?

Yanks control Nady next year, so I believe he will replace Abreu in RF. I wouldn't jump to give Nady another contract until he proves next season that this year's hitting isn't just a fluke.

Next year is the last for Damon and Matsui. In my fantasy world, I'd like to see the Yanks take the 80 million coming off the payroll and use it on CC, Tex, Dunn, and Sheets. But they'll be in good shape if they can get CC and piece the rest together, that is as long as his arm doesn't fall off with Milwaukee first.

Okay good, that's what I thought. Nady for one more year is fine with me. Cost control is what its all about.
