Yankees Need Steroids

At this point I really wouldn't mind if they all started juicing. This is terrible. Robot Wars terrible. This is like everyone forgetting it's your birthday so you decide to walk to the store and a mad cow eats you terrible. So we're about to lose badly to Toronto. Granted, they have Halladay (?) on the mound but still, that's pretty bad. I wake up every morning to WFAN on my alarm clock radio (fancy, I know) and I have to hear Carton gloating about how bad the Yankees are and how they're not going to make it to the postseason. You can hear the smile in his voice when he talks about it. So to reiterate, this is Robot Wars terrible. You may not know what that means, but my brother does, and he can tell you that's pretty terrible. Thank God the semester's starting up soon and I can focus on other things.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. I'll never forget the monstrosity that was Robot Wars.

Yankees are so desperate in need of late-season collapses for all the other AL teams that the players held a players-only meeting last night and reached a decision to urge loyal fans to have Quick VooDoo lessons and start jinxing every single player of the opposing teams.

With age comes wisdom.
I have been a Yankee fan for so long that my early memories are of the double play combination of Horace Clarke and Gene Michael. Remember how bad Stick was as manager, he was worse as a short stop.
So as upset as I am about this season, I've been through it before. Yankee front office has always had a hard time with the fact that players age. Jeter, as gangster as he is, has lost a step. At some point you have to say, if I'm going to lose, I might as well lose with youth. Matsui, rest up a little more. Go home, you'll feel better, sayonara. Damon, should never be allowed to set foot in Center Field, for any reason. This my sound vindictive but if someone ripped me off for 40 million (19 starts in four years, 6-6) under no circumstance would I ever let them put on the pinstripes again. Last night Al Leiter even commented that Pavano will be pitching for a new contract. I would not give him the chance to make any more money as a baseball player, ever, from anyone.
So let's all face up to it, the season is lost. Shed a tear or two for the closing of the Stadium but not for the team. There will be a next year, or the year after. Most of all let's root for the Twins or White Sox to get the wild card because a lousy season won't feel as bad if the Red Sox are watching the playoffs at home too.

I think the only real tragedy is that this is how Yankee stadium is getting closed.

And I agree with you Steve about losing with youth. This season would have been much nicer if the kids actually played in the majors. We got Chamberlain out of this, but Hughes and Kennedy are exactly where they were last season.

Raven, Voodoo may be the only thing that can save this season for the Yankees.

I'm with Steve about Pavano, I would let Barry Bonds pitch to Roger Clemens behind the plate before I let Pavano throw at the major league level.

fernando why'd you delete my comments

No real reason, just wanted you to post your funny comments under your real name. Also, it makes conversing on these pages much easier when people can differentiate between two names. Johnny I can respond to. My alter ego, I can't.

Ha! I thought of that one before he had even broken out of his slump. I had to wait 'till he started warming up to actually write it.
