Weekend Red Sox Series

The Good

Well, for starters Wang pitched a complete game 2-hitter giving up one homerun that in fairness should have been caught. Giambi came alive a little with two homeruns this series, and both Molina and Alberto Gonzalez stepped up with their bats. Cano had a couple hits and an RBI on the Saturday game but couldn't stay consistent. Mike Mussina pitched a pretty good game until he went after Manny. Ohlendorf and Bruney held things down in the bullpen.

The Bad

Phil Hughes lasted 3 innings for a second consecutive start, and the team as a whole could not get the big hit to save their lives. A-Rod was particularly awful in this stretch. Especially on that 3 pitch strike out to Papelbon in the 8th inning with two runners on and down by one run on Saturday.

The Ugly

Kevin Youkillis. That is one ugly looking dude.

Respect Jeter's Gangster is For the Children

The Respect Jeter's Gangster blog has joined Johnny Damon's homerun club, which helps the Children's Health Fund. We are set to donate $1.00 for every homerun the Yankees hit this season. We used to link to the Children's Health Fund page, but we believe that's what shut down our blog. That's right, charity got our blog shut down. Oh well, what can you do? Jason Giambi jacked a pair of homeruns over the weekend to help the cause.

Melky Cabrera 2hr = $2.00
Alex Rodriguez 2hr = $2.00
Hideki Matsui 2 hr = $2.00
Bobby Abreu 1hr = $1.00
Jorge Posada 1hr = $1.00
Jason Giambi 2hr = $2.00
Total = $10.00

just curious. is your fav. book really the bible?

Yes it is. Its the only book that I can read daily, and actually get something out of. I'm a Christian so I suppose that helps.

No questions are stupid, just gangster or ungangster.

Keep checking back with us, and leave some more comments when you do! Its no fun unless there's people to talk to.

You're so right about Kevin Youkillis.

There were a lot of ugly things I could have mentioned about those games, but Kevin Youkilis beat them all with his face. Not an easy feat to accomplish.

I can't stand Kevin Youklis ~ he's a Humph! And yes, he's gross... Not that you guys care, but the RedSox do not have an attractive team AT ALL!!!

Tribegirl, are you a Cleveland fan? If so, than thank your team for taking it to the Sox yesterday.

Wonder why Youk gets hit a lot? Not to mention his horrific batting stance... I hope Joba lets him actually have it this year.

Yep, Cleveland is my team and we HAD that game until Manny got us top of the 9th with a two run homer and we lost..... But Borowski (our suddenly sucky closer) threw him an 84 MPH fastball like it was batting practice. UGG!!! Oh well, at least Grady is hitting now and the Yankees are looking good! Everyone is hitting all at once! A-Rod was incredible last night and Jeter is back!

At the time I wrote that, I actually thought Cleveland had won. Oh well, get Sizemore to give it to them tonight!

We're all over it ~ if ANYONE has any ganster worth respecting on the Indians, it's Sizemore!

Tribegirl,

I wouldnt say Borowski is a suddenly sucky closer. He was pretty terrible last year also. The only reason he had so many saves is because a lot of them were with 3 run leads, which, pretty much any major league pitcher (yes, guys, even Farnsworth can get 3 outs with such a lead). This is why if Cleveland is smart, they will put Betancourt in as their closer now that Borowski is on the DL. Also, if Hafner can hit like he did in 2006, I think he has the gangster edge on that Clevland team. Sure he doesnt play defense, but when hes on, he more than makes up for it with his bat.

Yep, you're right. Last year, he led the league with the highest ERA of closers, but people ignored that because he had 45 saves. He only got those saves because he had kick ass run support from our offense. He would come in with a two or three run lead and we'd win by one. So yeah, to me he's not suddenly sucky, but now everyone else is catching up to what the diehards have been saying forever! And yep, Hafner's ganster, so is Martinez, and Sizemore. We're a young team though, so we're still growing some gangsters...

ps Jeter just got another hit! That's three tonight! Tribe and RedSux are still tied.
