Yankees Toppled by Rays

The Good

The Yankees rallied for 4 runs in the third after falling 6-0. Matsui hit a solo homerun, both Abreu and Molina hit doubles, and Jeter had a triple (not necessarily in that order). Albaladejo shined with 2.2 innings of one hit shutout ball with 4 strikeouts. Billy Traber and Ross Ohlendorf both tossed scoreless innings.

The Bad

The Yankee offense got nothing else after the 3rd, and the Yankee bullpen went on to give up another 7 runs. The Rays knocked two homeruns in the process. Cano went 0-4 continuing his opening cold streak, and Posada didn't quite show he was over his shoulder injury going 0-4 with 2 strikeouts. Damon, where's your bat?

The Ugly

Lots of ugly. Kennedy lasted 2.1 innings and gave up 6 runs, but was outdone by Hawkins who allowed another 6 runs and only recorded 2 outs. Farnsworth recorded 4 outs and gave up one run on a homerun to Carlos Pena.

Respect Jeter's Gangster is for the Children

Respect Jeter's Gangster joined Johnny Damon's Homerun Club, and is giving $1.00 for every homerun the Yankees hit this season. The money goes to the Children's Health Fund. Throughout the season, we will keep a running tally of the homeruns and money donated:

Melky Cabrera 1hr = $1.00
Alex Rodriguez 1hr = $1.00
Hideki Matsui 1 hr = $1.00
Total = $3.00

Abreu is our sparkplug, tablesetter, and ribbie getter right now.

Yeah, there's nothing bad to say about Abreu. He's been our best hitter thus far.
